The father of Meghan Markle has said he is considering suing his daughter and her husband so he can see his grandchildren.

Thomas Markle appeared on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday morning via video link from Mexico.

He spoke to hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley as he fears Meghan and Prince Harry are "pushing Harry's family away."

Thomas also spoke of about his current state relationship with the couple, admitting he considered taking legal action against his daughter.

He said he is yet to meet either of his grandchildren, Meghan and Harry's son Archie, and daughter Lilibet.

Getting onto the subject of his grandchildren – Meghan and Harry's son Archie, two, and four-month-old daughter Lilibet.

Thomas revealed that he has considered suing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in order to meet his grandkids.

He said the falling-out with his daughter is "ridiculous" and they should make up "for the sake of the children".

Thomas spoke to Richard and Susanna

Susanna said to him: "You have two new grandchildren, who you must be afraid you won't meet."

Thomas replied: "I’m very concerned about that – I’d really love to see my grandchildren.

"People have suggested in California that I sue to see my kids and I think if I did that I’d be a hypocrite. I’d be doing the same thing as Meghan and Harry are doing.

"I don’t want to include my grandchildren in this kind of situation. I want to see my grandchildren with friendly parents and friendship all around."

He added: "I’ve been told by several lawyers that grandparents have sued to see their grandchildren and won in California but I’m not going to do that.

"I don’t want to involve my grandchildren as pawns in a game, they’re not part of the game."

Richard pointed out that Thomas continues to do TV interviews in the United States and in the UK and asked whether he does this as it's his only way of communicating with Meghan, 40.

"I've made it quite clear that until I hear from her, I'll keep doing it," he said.

"This is way too childish, it's kind of silly, we're family. the kids are gonna grow up without knowing they have two families."

But GMB viewers were unimpressed.

"Switches on #GMB. Sees Thomas Markle. Immediately switches back off. I honestly couldn't care less what that man has to say. Stop giving him air time!!" tweeted one.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex

Another fumed: "Why is Thomas Markle going to be on #GMB AGAIN??? We’ve not seen or heard from #HarryandMeghan in a month, his kid no longer lives here so why is it brought on telly to badmouth her & Harry every chance @ITV get?"

"Why do @GMB keep giving Thomas Markle airtime?! It’s ridiculous." a third added.

A fourth complained: "#GoodMorningBritain wheeling out Thomas Markle again. You’d think they would’ve learnt from how ‘well’ his first interview went. Cringe."
