Fans of Good Morning Britain had their hearts stolen by Max Whitlock's daughter as she interrupted his video interview on this morning's show.

Presenters Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard spoke to the Olympic hero about his gold medal triumph as he successfully defended his pommel horse title yesterday in Tokyo.

They were joined on a video call on the latest edition of the ITV programme by Max's mum Madeline - along with his wife Leah and daughter Willow.

The gymnast revealed he didn't expect to be joined by his family on the interview.

He said: "Before I start, I didn't know my family were coming on so that is a nice surprise. It's good to see you all."

The 28-year-old was the first athlete to perform his routine in the pommel horse final - and he spoke about the intense pressure that comes with this.

He said: "It was a new experience for me as I didn't have the option of watching other people and seeing what scores were coming through to tailor my routine. I had to go all in. The risk was massively high and I'm just so happy it paid off."

But while Max was talking, his wife's attention was noticeably distracted as their energetic daughter ran around the Whitlock home in Essex.

At one point it even looked as though she tried to emulate her dad with a gymnastic move that left the hosts of the show in hysterics.

Ben Shephard laughed: "She's like a little pocket rocket."

Leah revealed that Willow even sacrificed watching her favourite show Paw Patrol in order to watch her dad's gold medal success - before Max's mum spoke about how she was so proud of her son's achievement.

Fans of the show took to Twitter to talk about the adorable moment.

One user said: Willow taking charge lol gotta love live TV #gmb

Another tweeted: "This kid of #MaxWhitlock on @GMB is absolutely hilarious. Parents definitely got their work cut out #Gmb"

A third added: "Got another Athlete in the Family judging by the kids moves there in Essex"

Kate Garraway ended the interview by saying how Leah will be particularly looking forward to Max's return home.

She said: "I sense you might be shouldering some parenting responsibilities. I feel like Leah needs to go and put her feet up for a bit."
