Police are appealing for the public's help in locating a 12-year-old girl from Wales who was reported missing from her home.

Rubi Giblin, from the Cwmbach area of Aberdare, south Wales was last seen leaving her home on Monday at about 1.15pm.

Officers from South Wales Police are appealing for help in finding the missing schoolgirl.

WalesOnline reports she is described as being 5ft 4in tall and of slim build, with long brown hair that was down and curled on the day she left.

She was wearing black Puma leggings with bold white lettering saying "Puma" on one of the legs on the thigh area.

She was also wearing a khaki green puffer jacket with black fur trim around the hood and possibly a pair of white Nike Air Force trainers.

Rubi is known to visit Aberdare town, police say.

Officers are asking for anyone who has seen Rubi or knows where she is to contact them on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 quoting reference 2000059285.

Elsewhere the body of a of missing Brit backpacker Stephanie Simpson was found in New Zealand on Saturday.

Police began looking for Stephanie after the 32-year-old failed to show up for work on last week. Simpson's body was found in the Pyke Creek area, near Brewster Hut, around 1.40pm.
