One of the UK’s leading physiotherapy group’s has been training clinicians to deliver ‘virtual’ treatment sessions for patients who aren't able to attend in person due to the UK-wide lockdown.

Ascenti has now launched this unique online service to the public and is offering free sessions for the over 65s until Friday, April 3.

There’s also a 20 per cent discount for everyone under the age of 65.

Ascenti employs 300 highly-qualified physiotherapists, delivering around 600,000 sessions per year.

Its online physio service has been available to select corporate health patients since last year, but a new update to the Ascenti Physio App means now anyone can benefit from its market-leading integrated video physio service from the comfort of their own home.

The session is free for anyone over the age of 65 until April 3

Over recent weeks, the coronavirus outbreak has forced people in the UK to make enormous changes to their daily lives.

Experts believe that these changes - while necessary to protect against the spread of Covid-19 - could have an adverse impact on health by resulting in fewer people seeking or completing treatment and even causing new or worsening conditions in some cases.

The Ascenti Physio App is free to download on iOS and Android devices

As well as video-call physio sessions, the app incorporates a variety of behaviour change tools such as goal-setting, exercise reminder notifications, demonstration videos to educate patients on optimum exercise techniques and progress diaries that can be shared with clinicians.

Stephanie Dobrikova, CEO of Ascenti, said: “The online physiotherapy sessions themselves work just as if you’re having a Facetime or Skype call with a friend, but the real magic is that these video calls are just part of a fully integrated digital experience that will help to educate, motivate and rehabilitate patients through this challenging time, so that they can achieve excellent results from home for a better quality of life in the long-term.

“We already know that our online physio service is successful, so we’re very excited to be able to now launch it to consumers through the Ascenti Physio App and to use this initial period to offer discounted support to the general public and free support to people over the age of 65.”

The Ascenti Physio App is free to download and virtual sessions will cost £35 for a 30 minute appointment.

Until Friday April 3, 2020, Ascenti is offering a 20 per cent discount on all virtual treatment sessions, bringing the cost of a 30 minute session down to £28 - sessions can be booked here using the code ONLINE20.

People over the age of 65 can register for their free treatment session here.
