The actor played Rev. Timothy Farsing at a sitcom about the British Home Guard during the Second World War.
This show was originally broadcast from 1968 to 1977 and was broadcast in a total of 9 series and 80 episodes.
He starred with Arthur Rowe, Clive Dunn, John Laurie, James Beck, John Le Meschlier and Arnold Ridley.
A statement shared on Facebook states:
