Four areas of Lancashire have recorded significant drops in the number of daily Covid cases.

New figures published today (September 24) by Public Health England reveal that Blackburn's daily total has dropped from 72 to 46 while Blackpool's dropped from 119 to 89. Burnley's increased slightly from 35 to 39 and Chorley's dropped from 90 to 70.

Fylde's daily total increased by just one case and Hyndburn's remained the same as the previous day with 34 new cases.

Although Lancaster's new daily total remains high, 102, it represents a drop from the previous day's total of 125 but takes the city past the 17,000 mark of total cases since the pandemic began.

Pendle dropped from 59 to 35 and Preston's went down from 83 to 69. Wyre's daily total dropped almost 50 per cent from 103 to 62.

Nationally 36,710 new daily cases were recorded, bringing the total since the beginning of the pandemic to 7,565,867.
