The ECHO spoke to Jorge Natan, Flamengo fan and journalist with Globo Esporte, to discover the view from Brazil on the FIFA Club World Cup final

How desperate have Flamengo supporters been to play Liverpool in the Club World Cup final? Is it true that the 1981 meeting is regarded the greatest moment in Flamengo's history?

Flamengo supporters have been waiting for this game for at least 30 years. The title of being “world champions” is so important to Brazilians and South America clubs, and became like a myth in Flamengo's history because the best team in their history played in such an important game.

But there are some supporters that are saying 'Oh, I don't care if we don't win' because winning the Copa Libertadores title was such an amazing history.

As for 1981, there's no doubt about this. Flamengo supporters love Zico and company a lot for this game, and like I said it has become a myth.

This year, a chant became so popular in Flamengo's matches between the supporters and was like an hymn for this magic year.

The chant remembers the match on 1981, and it says: 'In 1981 December/Dominated the English guys/3-0 against Liverpool/It was marked in history/In Rio, there is no other like/Just Flamengo is a world champion/And now their people asks the world again'.

Just how big are Flamengo in Brazil? Will the country really come to a stop when the final is on television?

Flamengo is one of the biggest clubs in Brazil. There is a lot of history and a lot of titles. In terms of supporters, they are the biggest one, no doubt - research says there are about 40 million supporters around Brazil.

I think the country will stop for this match because Flamengo has so many supporters and is so hated by their rivals. And the final in Brazil will be played at a good time on Saturday, so this will help to people stop in front of TV.

How are Liverpool viewed in Brazil? How is Jurgen Klopp viewed, or is it more the likes of Alisson, Firmino and Fabinho that are famous?

In Brazil, Premier League and the most famous players of the league are popular with most young people that love football, either from video games or watching subscription TV. These kind of people know anyone on the team.

The public in general don't have so much knowledge about European football, because there is no league - even the Champions League - being broadcast on free TV in the last few years.

Most of the people know Alisson and Firmino from the World Cup, and Fabinho is becoming a name in the Brazil team right now.

But I think that people who like football know Klopp, Van Dijk and Salah. Liverpool is considered such a big, big club in the world in general, I think.

You watch a lot of European football. Where in the Premier League do you think Flamengo would finish, and why?

When Flamengo starts to open up a big lead over their the rivals in the Brasileirao table, this debate created a huge argument here. The question between the experts was this: where would Flamengo finish in the Premier League table? Jorge Jesus was asked about this too. I think this magic team of Flamengo could fight for sixth place at best.

Which players should Liverpool supporters look out for in the Flamengo team? Who are the danger men?

Flamengo won the Copa Libertadores and Brasileirao trophies with their forwards in such good form.

There are four guys that have had an amazing year and are so talented: Everton Ribeiro, Arrascaeta, Bruno Henrique and Gabigol.

Everton is a gifted player, he can 'glue' the ball on his foot and can do wonderful passes; Arrascaeta is a Uruguayan midfielder that has a good pass and can reach the area to score goals; Bruno Henrique is the guy who can solve a game alone and brings danger with high balls and can move around the attack, runs a lot and can make decisive actions.

Gabigol is the goal-man that can score the less likely chances. But I think the most dangerous player for Flamengo today is Bruno Henrique.

What do you think Flamengo have to do to win?

I think Flamengo need to change their style to beat Liverpool. Flamengo are an attacking team that make can corner their rivals and decide games quickly.

But I think is impossible to do it with Liverpool - and if Flamengo tries this, it will open the possibility for Liverpool to decide the match in the first half.

For me, caution is the word. Flamengo needs to be solid in defence and trust that the attacking men will sort things when they get the chance.
