FIFA 21 next gen has been released early on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, for players who already own the current gen edition.

Starting Wednesday December 2, 2020 at 00:00 GMT (midnight) any players who have already purchased the current gen version of FIFA 21 will be able to upgrade to the next gen version of the game for free through Dual Entitlement.

EA SPORTS had previously stated that the next gen version of FIFA 21 would be released on the brand new next generation consoles on Friday December 4, but they've decided to release the new next gen upgrade earlier than planned, with players who have already bought the current gen version of FIFA 21 on Xbox One and PS4 able to upgrade to the next gen edition early, for free, on their new next-gen consoles.

So, how can players who have a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series S/X upgrade to the next gen edition of FIFA 21?

To get the next gen version of FIFA 21 (alongside the current gen version), all you have to do is log into your next generation console with the platform account associated with your Xbox One or PlayStation 4 copy of FIFA 21, and you'll then will be able to access FIFA 21 next gen through the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store from 00:00 GMT (midnight) on Wednesday December 2.

The download size on both Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5 is just under 40GB.

All players who have purchased FIFA 21 on Xbox One and/or PlayStation 4, can get the next generation of FIFA 21 for free, and carry their progress from FUT and VOLTA over. If you don’t own the current version of FIFA 21, the standalone next generation edition will be available on December 4.

Players who play FUT or Volta Football can also take their squads from the current gen to next gen in FIFA 21 with cross-gen transfer markets and leaderboards in FUT 21, as well as all FUT and Volta Football content and progress. Discless consoles (PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, Xbox Series S) require a digital entitlement to upgrade.

The FIFA 21 NXT LVL Editions that are set to be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, will also have the following content for use in FIFA Ultimate Team:
