Sarah Ferguson has hit out to defend her son-in-law Jack Brooksbank after eyebrows were raised when he was papped frolicking on a boat in Italy with a topless woman while his wife, Princess Eugenie, was at home in England with their young baby.
Snaps of 35-year-old Jack set tongues wagging over the weekend as he enjoyed a jolly work trip to Europe.
The businessman married 31-year-old Princess Eugenie – who is the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II – in 2018 and together they welcomed a son named August in February this year.
Now protective grandmother Sarah – aka Fergie – has come to Jack’s defence after speculation ran riot about his motor boat activities.
The 61-year-old Duchess of York appeared on The One Show on Monday night where the topic of her daughter’s husband came up.
She gushed: “Jack, who was on the front page, is a man of such integrity. He's just one of my most favourite people, I call him James Bond actually.
“He's just a superhero in my book, and he's a great father, a fabulous husband, and he's never at front of house, he always likes to be at the back.”
Sarah suggested that Jack’s work as a brand ambassador for celebrity tequila company Casamigos – which was launched by George Clooney and Rande Gerber in 2013 – was the reason he was entertaining women on a boat in the Med.
She said: “So for them to make this story is completely fabricated, he works as an ambassador for Casamigos, and he was on doing his job, and so I think it's really important that we clarify that for Jack's sake.”
Jack was in Italy last week ahead of a Unicef Summer Gala which was sponsored by Casamigos.
He spent the Friday afternoon aboard a boat and was joined by former Glamour magazine editor Rachel Zalis, who is now global director of Casamigos, and a model named Maria Buccellati.
Italian model Erica Pelsoini was also on board – with photos of her emerging soon after the boat trip showing her flashing her topless breasts in full view of Jack and the boat’s skipper.
Back on The One Show, the Duchess – who was married to controversial royal family member, Prince Andrew, between 1986 and 1996 – spoke about her joy of becoming a grandmother.
She said: “I've had sisters with daughters, and now it's Barbies put to one side, I've got to get into cars and trucks and engines.
“Although it has to be said, lovely August, if he wants Barbies we'll bring the Barbies back out! I think in life we never judge anybody or any thing, we just go for the heart.”

Sarah went on to praise her both her daughter for her own parenting skills – as 32-year-old Princess Beatrice is stepmother to her husband, Edoardo Mozzi’s five-year-old child from his previous marriage and is due to welcomed her own child later this year.
Sarah said: “I'm so lucky, my girls, Eugenie's a great mum, everyone says you're so excited with your grandson and I say no, I'm so proud of my daughter, she's a great mother
“And then Beatrice is about to have her first - and she's already got Wolfie, who she's really good with, and he's five, so he likes watching Storytime with Fergie.”
