Liverpool supporters have expressed surprise at Jurgen Klopp's line-up against Burnley as Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah have been named on the bench.

The Reds have failed to score in their last three Premier League matches going into tonight's clash with the Clarets at Anfield.

Manchester United held the champions to a goalless draw on Sunday evening, as Klopp 's side failed to create too many clear-cut opportunities.

The Liverpool boss has changed things up this evening, with a front three that haven't played together all that much.

However, the attacking trio of Sadio Mane, Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi have played together in one particularly important match in the past.

Mane, Shaqiri and Origi all started the Reds' historic Champions League semi-final second-leg win against Barcelona in 2019, with the latter scoring twice on an unforgettable night at Anfield.

This evening, against 17th-placed Burnley, they will have the chance to impress again, with Salah and Firmino options from the bench.

As well as this, Joel Matip returns to the Liverpool side after being out since the 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion last month through injury, while Jordan Henderson is absent with a groin problem.

Liverpool fans have been reacting to the news that two of their star attackers won't be used from the start this evening.

Klopp could be thinking about the FA Cup fourth-round tie with Manchester United on Sunday - that may be the reason why Firmino and Salah start from the bench tonight.

The Reds have the opportunity to move within three points of United at the top of the table, should they get the three points against Sean Dyche's side.
