The family of a bullied schoolboy with dwarfism will donate the £355,000 crowdfunded for him to charity.
Kind strangers have raised hundreds of thousands to send Quaden Bayles and his mum to Disneyland after he went viral over a heartbreaking video of him expressing suicidal thoughts.
In the footage posted online by his mum, Quaden, who has a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia, says he is sick of cruel jibes over his appearance and admits he wants to die.
The footage of the nine-year-old from Australia broke hearts around the world and the fund has so far raised more than 700,000 Australian dollars.
But his family now say that while they are touched by the goodwill of strangers, they will donate the money fundraised for him to charity instead.
In an interview with NITV News, Quaden's Aunty Mundanara Bayles said: "What kid wouldn't want to go to Disneyland, especially if you have lived Quaden's life. To escape to anywhere that is fun that doesn't remind him of his day to day challenges.
"But my sister said 'you know what, let's get back to the real issue'. This little fella has been bullied. How many suicides, black or white, in our society have happened due to bullying."
"We want the money to go to community organisations that really need it."
The auntie said they need to make sure people are not bullied.
She said that they did want to go to Disneyland, but that the community would benefit far more from the donation.
They have earmarked two organisations they would like to benefit from the fundraised cash: Dwarfism Awareness Australia and Balunu Healing Foundation.
When the video was posted online, thousands commented showing their support.
One wrote: "Awwh our darling boy this is so unfair. Please go straight too the head of education. You are the best mum ever. Tell him he is such a brave little man and we love him."
Another said: "Oh my heart breaks. That makes me so angry and upset - those parents need to be dragged down to the school and the kids given a major wake up call - zero tolerance. Big hugs and prayers."
The gofundme page, telling Quaden's story, says: "9 year old Quaden is an amazing boy from Australia with dwarfism.
"One day when his mother picked him up from school, she found Quaden in hysterics. Quaden was being bullied so horribly in school, that he just could not take it anymore.
"His mother filmed his tearful outcry and put it on Facebook to let people know the effect that bullying can have.
"The bullying was so severe, in the video Quaden can be heard saying 'Give me a knife—I want to kill myself.'
"I’m setting up this GoFundMe to let Quaden know that bullying will not be tolerated, and that he is a wonderful human being who deserves joy.
"I want to fly Quaden and his mother to America, get them a nice hotel, and bring them to Disneyland."
