Thousands of young people in Perth and Kinross dusted off their backpacks, put on their uniforms and returned to school on Wednesday.
Many children attended primary school for the first time on this day, and many more officially transitioned to secondary school.
Perth Kinross Council Learning and Family Committee Chair John Leveque took to social media earlier in the week to welcome children of all ages back into the classroom. .
Outside Tulloch Elementary School, he said:
"And at this stage it would be my fault for not congratulating everyone on the excellent set of exam results we had, and the credit goes to the school staff, parents, teachers,
``An incredible set of results, very well done. We look forward to an even better school year after three years, and to our catering staff, everyone involved, students, parents, teachers, etc., be it school staff, Janie, etc. A wonderful new year.
