Lancashire’s latest Covid hotspots have been revealed as Omicron cases went up by 86 to 246 in the UK.

North East Centre in Blackpool was top of the county’s worst affected areas in the last seven days, with areas of the county including Grimsargh & Goosnargh, Brindle and Withnell and Aughton also featuring prominently.

North East Centre in Blackpool had an infection rate of 756.5 per 100, 000 people, with 52 positive cases in the seven days up to November 29. This was well above the current average rate in England, which is 460 per 100,000 people.

This was closely followed by Grimsargh & Goosnargh, with 42 cases and an infection rate of 648.5. The third highest infection rate was shown in Brindle & Withnell, which had 39 new positive cases in the seven days up to November 29, and an infection rate of 644.5.

Meanwhile, Aughton was ranked in fourth place, with an infection rate of 638.4 and 51 new cases, which was closely followed by Shadsworth & Intack, with an infection rate of 630.1, and Parbold, Appley Bridge & Wrightington, which had an infection rate of 622.9 per 100, 000 people, and 41 new cases.
