But the transfer window is now in full swing, clubs up and down the division are busy making additions to their squads and rumours are circulating.
With that in mind, here's the latest transfer gossip and speculation concerning clubs in League One.

Former Stoke City and Burnley defender Stephen Ward is currently training with Ipswich Town.
He is a free agent at present after departing the Potters over the summer.
Now, the East Anglian Daily Times reports that that 34-year-old is training with the Portman Road club.
Ipswich’s general manager of football operations Lee O’Neill said: “Stepehen is with us for a little while.
“He’s training with us and will have a look at the club and we will have a look at hime. It’s no more than that at this stage.”
Doncaster and Gillingham among those interested in former Town man
Doncaster Rovers and Gillingham are among several clubs interested in former Ipswich Town winger Jordan Roberts.
The 26-year-old left Ipswich over the summer after the club did not take up an option to extend his contract.
The Daily Record reports that the free agent is interesting many teams.
These include Hearts, Salford City, Doncaster Rovers and Scunthorpe United, as well as Gillingham, where he spent the second half of last season on loan.
Former Tigers loanee Maddison on future
Ex-Hull City loanee and Peterborough United man Marcus Maddison has spoken out on his future amid waiting for a new club.
The 26-year-old, who has also been linked with a move to Sunderland, departed Posh at the end of the season after six years.
Maddison has now posted a frank message on social media about the last month and the difficulties of finding a new club, but is busy training to remain in optimum condition.
He posted on Instagram: “Focus on what you can affect in the here and now, don’t get bogged down in what isn’t going right for you and try focus on the positives.
“This past month has been hell for me waiting on a phone call that never comes but I try stay positive and in shape so when I return I’m the best I can be.”
