Blackpool actress Hayley Tamaddon has suffered a painful-looking injury after attempting some DIY.

Hayley, who is best known for playing Del Dingle in Emmerdale and Andrea Beckett in Coronation Street, unveiled the injury on Twitter yesterday.

She also won series five of Dancing on Ice in 2010 with Blackpool pro-skater Daniel Whiston.

Sharing a photo of her thumb looking bent out of shape, the actress said: "I hammered my thumb. Looks ok though... right?!"

Many of her fans and a few famous faces responded to the image, sharing their concern - urging her to get her thumb checked out by medics.

Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Jenny Bradley in Corrie, was just one of the people to respond to the image, saying: "Can you not do that again please. Thank you x"

While singer, actress and comedian Kate Robbins, who represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1980 as part of the group Prima Donna, said: "No! That looks dislocated!"

One fan said: "You might have broken it you might have to have it xrayed."

Another replied: "I'd get that looked at...looks very painful"

A third said: "You need A&E I'm afraid it's out of joint"

Luckily, the injury wasn't quite as bad as it looked with Hayley giving an update this morning.

She tweeted a photo of herself smiling, saying: "Morning you lovely lot! Thumb is a lot better today and not broken! Yippee!"
