Every new coronavirus case in Burnley and the nine areas where infections are falling

Coronavirus infection rates are decreasing in nine out of the 12 areas of Burnley and increasing in just three.

Analysis of the Government’s Covid-19 infections map shows that the rate has increased in Habergham and Ightenhill, Whittlefield and Rose Grove and Brunshaw and Brownside, but decreased everywhere else. 

Of the places with an increased rate, Whittlefield and Rose Grove recorded the biggest rise, after 73 new cases in the seven days to January 17 brought the area's rate to 1,153.1 cases per 100,000 people.

Cliviger, Worsthorne and Lane Bottom has the lowest infection rate in the whole borough, with a rate of 238.9 per 100,000 people.
