More areas in England have entered a Tier 3 lockdown meaning 28 local authorities are now under the toughest measures in the country.
Following collapsed talks with central government, Greater Manchester is the latest are to be put into the "very high" alert category due to the rising number of coronavirus cases and rate of infection in the area.
Initially, the Liverpool city region was the only area moving into tier three with a list of strict new rules included.
But on October 16, Lancashire was also added into the highest tier.
And now Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire were added on Friday. Warrington will go in next week.
But as cases in other areas continue to rise, many other local authorities are at risk of being placed into Tier 3.

Which areas could next enter Tier 3?
As the highest level of the Government's tier system, ministers have reserved Tier 3 for the worst affected UK regions.
The threshold includes overall infection rates, case rates amongst the elderly and the proportion of positive tests.
Several other regions in the north - which has suffered disproportionately from COVID-19 - have seen these variables creep up, and as such risk entering the enhanced lockdown.
But these are the places next at risk of entering Tier 3 lockdown.
