‘EU’s days are numbered!’ Britons cheer plans to build alliance against France

Biden demands UK and Australia mend bond with France

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is understood to be planning a summit with the leaders of four Eastern European countries early next year. Foreign Office sources told Express.co.uk that the UK is building up alliances with more sympathetic countries in the EU amid growing hostility from France.

Building strong relations with the Visegrad 4 - Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia - could see support from the UK for Polexit and the other three countries' efforts to assert their sovereignty against the EU.

News of the possible pact was jumped on by Brexiteers - glad to hear that Emmanuel Macron’s Republic was getting a taste of its own medicine.

User RichOn wrote: “Britain has always been and will always be the pre-eminent power in Europe.

“The EU thought they could subjugate our free people…not happening.

“Boris should order a large portion of humble pie when the ‘quasi ineffective’ EU come begging.”

Hereward wake wrote: “Good move, nothing wrong with nation states looking for areas where cooperation delivers mutual gain.”

Meanwhile Sterling77a raged: “The EU is a dying trade cartel, pretending to be a government. It is imploding and fighting desperately to appear relevant.

“Its EU politicians and bureaucrats are trying to justify their growing incompetence. Infighting is rife amongst its membership.

“They try to suffocate dissent and use economic coercion to bully neighbours and competitors. What is the point of this expensive EU collective of bureaucracy? It layers political objectives on top of the rules provoking chaos.

“The EU's chaotic bureaucratic hatred for Britain proves they are in a blind panic and cannot control their anger having lost influence. The EU is a declining trade cartel that cannot sustain itself and will eventually die.

“The EU’s days are numbered as no country needs two governments. The EU bureaucracy is without hope, without competence and without a future.”

France has made no secret of its disdain for Brexit Britain or Mr Johnson’s Government.

At the weekend it was claimed that Mr Macron said it was “impossible” to deal with the British Prime Minister.

Post-Brexit fishing arrangements, migrants crossing the English Channel and the UK’s part in the Aukus deal have all played a part in rapidly deteriorating tensions between the two nations.

And with Mr Macron set to appoint his Brexit-bashing Europe Minister Clement Beaune to play a key role in his re-election campaign, it appears the anti-UK rhetoric is unlikely to subside anytime soon.

This appeared to have prompted Mr Johnson to look further afield for allies.

A senior source close to Foreign Secretary Liz Truss joked: “Perhaps we should set up an advisory unit on leaving the EU.”
