Emmerdale fans have praised actress Fiona Wade for her portrayal of Priya Sharma tonight in a "beautiful scene."

Thursday's episode saw the burns victim unveil her scars for the first time since she was stuck in the maze fire.

The wedding planner suffered severe third-degree burns when she was left trapped in a fire that also saw Andrea lose her life to the murderous Meena Julta, played by Paige Sandhu, in October.

In tonight's episode Priya started to feel the pressure when her good friend Leyla turned up to Rishi’s pre-Christmas get together looking glam.

Priya was ashamed of wearing her joggers so asked for her friend's help.

In her bedroom, Priya’s anxieties about her body were exacerbated as she rifled through her wardrobe.

She told Leyla that she still hadn’t looked at her back yet, so Leyla gently encouraged her scared friend to confront her fears.

Standing in front of a mirror, Priya lowered her robe and revealed the scars in an emotional scene between the two.

The pair were silent other than Priya's shocked sobs.

Fans on Twitter were heartbroken for the character but praised the actress for her performance.

Michelle said: "Beautiful scenes from Priya and Leyla tonight. You got this Priya #Emmerdale."

Ryan said: "#Emmerdale a powerful scene from @FionaWade_ just now. Priya is so brave."

Lorraine said: "How amazing is Priya with this storyline."

The actress spoke about the make-up for the episode, as she said that the prosthetic burn scars took two hours to create.

Speaking on This Morning, Fiona said: "It takes about two hours in make-up and the make-up ladies at Emmerdale are fantastic, incredible."

She also confessed she felt a huge weight of responsibility to get the storyline right, turning to an organisation called Changing Faces to help her with her research.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV and ITVHub with an extra episode on Thursdays at 8pm
