Emmerdale may have confirmed the fate of Jamie Tate on Friday, in the fallout to a deadly car crash.

Jamie is feared dead after he lost control of his vehicle, and drove into a lake during Thursday night's double episode.

Kim Tate's son was secretly fleeing the village when he narrowly avoided colliding with an oncoming vehicle, driven by Chas Dingle.

Jamie wasn't paying attention to the road as his phone rang, causing him to swerve into the path off the other car.

While both managed to pull away from each other, Jamie lost control of his car and ended up crashing through some bushes.

As he came out the other side, he screamed as his car ploughed into a huge lake off the side of the country road.

The episode ended just as the car hit the water and immediately sank, and on Friday the police and rescue team were at the site.

Trying to locate Jamie and his vehicle, they began work on getting the car out of the lake to see if Jamie was in there.

After searching the area there was no sign he had made it out alive, leaving officers fearing he was dead.

They warned his mother Kim and Gabby Thomas, the mother of his unborn child, to look away as they pulled the car from the water.

As water poured out of the vehicle and it remained in the air, it was clear Jamie did not seem to be in the car itself.

Also noticeable was the fact that one of the car windows on the driver's side appeared to be open, which it had not been prior to the crash.

With Jamie missing, it was feared he had drowned and that his body may be in the lake.

But could the major clue of the window be a huge sign that he did in fact make it out?

Perhaps the window simply broke from the impact or the amount of water flooding the car, causing it to sink - while it's also possible the divers did this to get the material around the car in order to be able to lift it out.

Or, maybe Jamie managed to break the window himself or at least open it before or after impact.

If this is the case, his missing body could suggest maybe he did get out and survive the crash - which of course sparks more questions about what happened, and where he is.

One viewer wrote on Twitter : "Drivers window was wound down think the git got out."

A second agreed: "Jamie got out. The drivers window was open."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
