Emma Bunton says she changed her Spice Girls moniker from Baby to Booby when she saw her breasts swell in motherhood.

The 45-year-old pop star is proud mum to 13-year-old Beau and 10-year-old Tate who she shares with boyfriend of 17 years, Jade Jones, 42.

Emma was famously known as Baby Spice thanks to her part in the global smash girl group – and welcomed her first son in 2007 when the Spice Girls reunited for the first time since their 2000 split.

The star said she joked with her boyfriend that she would need to change her nickname as she welcomed their first child and noticed a change in her body.

She explained on the Sweat, Snot And Tears podcast: “We came up with it in the hospital and my boobs had ballooned to epic proportions with the milk coming in.

“From that moment on, I was Booby Spice.”

Emma continued: “It is odd when you think about it – the way other people react to women feeding their babies.

"There’s nothing more natural than a woman feeding her baby.

“Let’s face it, it’s not like a pair of boobs is anything new these days. Boobs are everywhere.”

Emma explained she hopes to become a mother for the third time – and has the blessing of her two sons to get busy making a sibling for them.

She said: “My eldest said, ‘You need to go in there and have sex and have a child!’

“And do you know what the kids put at the top of their Christmas list this year – a sibling, no pressure!”

Last week, Emma revealed she had hoped to welcome a third child during lockdown, but fears she may not be able to as she has noticed signs of menopause.

She told the Mail on Sunday’s You magazine: “I started to feel unbalanced and anxious.

“At first I put it down to the pandemic. But then the anxiety became more regular, until it was daily.

“I was also lethargic. Something wasn't right. I looked up the symptoms and saw I had quite a few. So I spoke to someone on Zoom who came to the same conclusion. I was perimenopausal.”

She went on to explain that the changes to her body left her questioning if she will be able to have more children.

She said: “I thought, 'Is this the end?'

“It's been a very weird time. I'm a very mumsy person – when I see my friends' babies, I always become broody. But now I thought, 'OK, this is it’.”

Emma previously discussed her happiness about being pregnant in the past, telling Mother and Baby last year: "My partner, Jade, and I have always wanted children, so the thought of being pregnant was always very exciting for us.

"I fell pregnant when I was probably at my fittest, while competing in Strictly Come Dancing [in 2006]. I know being pregnant isn’t for everyone, but I loved it!

"Carrying my children and being spoilt rotten was my idea of heaven. Lots of women can have difficult pregnancies, so I was very grateful to be able to enjoy the time – it really is amazing how you adapt to all the changes your body is going through."
