However, wage demands and problems with representatives of the full-backs forced West Ham to end negotiations for now. The East London club is unlikely to return for this spent Italy international, but the club are now looking at other options.

Moyes is keen to upgrade left-back Aaron Cresswell, who has signed his six deals so far this month.

New signing Koehler has experience at left-back, andMaxwell, who signed a £17.5 million deal from Burnley, as well as Cornette.

However, the current plan is for Cornette to play up front and Koehler to play centrally in the back, following an injury to his Ageld, who joined Nayef this summer.

The 25-year-old Koehler signed a four-year deal with the club, which holds a two-year extension option.
