Police descended on a street in Preston on Saturday night as officers responded to an incident.

There was a heavy police presence in Gaythorne Avenue, off New Hall Lane at around 9pm, with the road partly blocked off by officers.

Lancashire Police confirmed officers were at the scene amid concerns for a man's welfare.

Two police cars appeared to be parked outside a house in the street, with a third in the road.

One end of the street was blocked off by a fourth police car, with an officer standing guard.

A spokesperson confirmed the police response followed 'concern for the welfare of a man in an address.'
