EFS Global: Burnley firm's latest expansion with takeover of Manchester's AFI UK

HAULAGE firm EFS Global has expanded its reach with a new acquisition.

The Burnley company, which specialises in services including air and sea freight, has acquired air freight specialists AFI UK for an undisclosed sum.

Headquartered at the World Freight Terminal in Manchester, AFI UK provides bespoke freight forwarding and logistics services in the UK and internationally.

EFS Global managing director Mark Jones said: “Our acquisition of AFI UK is another step forward in our expansion plans.

"The business is a perfect fit and is a great addition to our group as we continue to focus on growing our reach and market share.”

EFS Global now has 12 depots and offices across the country and operates its own UK and European road freight fleet alongside international freight forwarding services, including customs clearances.

This deal is another major step in the firm’s ongoing growth strategy and follows a number of acquisitions made by EFS in recent years.

EFS Global was advised by a team at Davis Blank Furniss led by partner and head of the corporate department, Sonio Singh, with support from Lauren Sever.

Mr Singh said: “Once again we were thrilled to assist the EFS Global team secure a key acquisition in its exciting growth strategy.”

The deal follows a number of other acquisitions made by EFS in recent years including Euro SDB, CS Brunt Freight Services, Horizon Distribution, Bradtrans International, Euro-Tran Despatch, JRS Traction, PDQ Specialist Courier Services, FWD Freight Services and Caistor Distribution.
