Ed Sheeran shows off new shorter hair at & Juliet musical premiere

ED Sheeran has gone for the chop and shown off a new shorter hair do.

The pop star made an appearance at the London press night of acclaimed music producer Max Martin's new musical & Juliet, and posed for pictures on the stage.

Beaming alongside Max and the star of the show Miriam-Teak Lee, Ed wore a pair of jeans with blue jumper and fleece-collared denim jacket.

Despite the hair cut, Ed didn't appear to have trimmed his beard, and he also wore his favourite pair of Tom Davies glasses.

Swedish producer Max found fame in the late 1990s working on hits including Britney Spears's ...Baby One More Time and The Backstreet Boys I Want It That Way.

He also worked on Justin Bieber and Ed's hit 2019 single I Don't Care.

Max has had 22 number one singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 and he won the ASCAP Songwriter of the Year award a record eleven times.

The 48-year-old allowed producers to use his back catalogue for the music which focuses on a "what if" scenario that posits William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet didn't end with Juliet killing herself.

Instead Juliet, her non-binary friend May and her nurse - along with Shakespeare's wife Anne Hathaway who decides to write herself into the story - leave Verona and embark on a road trip to Paris.

There, Juliet finds herself and realises that life is more than just falling in love and getting married.

Songs from Katy Perry, Jessie J, N Sync, Celine Dion and Ariana Grande are all also in the musical, which saw a standing ovation from the audience on press night on November 20.

Also in the audience was former One Direction star Liam Payne and his girlfriend Maya Henry, Australian drag queen Courtney Act, and Nicole Scherzinger.

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and her husband, Prince Daniel were also in attendance.

Simon Cowell and his partner Lauren Silverman were also spotted leaving the Shaftesbury Theatre show, with The X Factor judge looking slimmer than ever.

The music mogul, 60, opted for an unbuttoned all black suit, paired with a casual black T-shirt underneath.

He completed his outfit with some smart black shoes and accessorised with some trendy circular glasses.
