Ed Sheeran is set to play two huge gigs at Cardiff's Principality Stadium next summer.

The star last played the city in 2018, when he performed to 240,000 fans over a record-breaking spectacular four-night run at the stadium.

And now he is set to return, with two Cardiff dates added to his latest tour of the country.

Sheeran's Cardiff gigs will take place on May 26 and May 27, 2022.

They will form part of the first leg of his ‘+ - = ÷ x Tour’ (pronounced ‘The Mathematics Tour’) , taking place in stadiums throughout 2022. Kicking off in April next year, the tour will see him play 27 shows across the UK, Ireland, Central Europe and Scandinavia.

This tour will be the first time the singer returns to stadiums since his record-breaking ‘Divide Tour’: taking place from 2017-2019, it officially became the most-attended and highest-grossing tour, ever, by the time of its completion.

In his first night on that tour, he told the huge crowd: "Hello Cardiff. I haven't packed a gig in Cardiff since 2014 and it was a lot smaller than this.

"I've just done a big UK and Ireland stadium tour and this is by far my favourite stadium I've played."

"I'm so excited because I know the Welsh are bloody nuts!"

Sheeran’s highly anticipated new album ‘=’ will be released on October 29. It will feature new single 'Shivers' as well as his colossal comeback track, ‘Bad Habits’, that has, so far, spent 11 consecutive weeks at the top of the chart.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Saturday, September 25. Tickets will be available to purchase at www.edsheeran.com.
