EastEnders star Tameka Empson, 43, revealed on today’s Loose Women that she’s given birth to a baby boy while on a break from the soap.

She appeared via a video call and spoke to panelists Judi Love, Nadia Swahala, and Kaye Adams about her special news.

She said: “I’ve been contributing to the human race… I have a baby boy, a bouncing baby boy.”

Tamera has been juggling two young children in lockdown, which she said was tough, but she is managing.

"[It’s] a challenge... nothing prepares you for it," she explained.

"My daughter is six and we’re doing homeschooling, and then you’ve got a newborn and you’ve got to watch everything

"He’s sleeping now, which helps. I’m made of the good stuff, I’ve come through it OK.”

Tameka said it was a challenge caring for a young child and a baby in lockdown, but nothing she couldn't handle

Asked if it was a deliberate decision to keep the news secret, she said: “It wasn’t so much deliberate. I just wanted to enjoy it. A baby comes and you want to enjoy it before everyone says, ‘How’s he doing... etc..’”

She added: “But now he’s here and he’s loud!”

Tameka has filmed EastEnders: Secrets From The Square in which she reminisces about her biggest moments in the soap.

Asked when we’ll see her character Kim Fox back on the Square, she said: “By the end of the year, stay tuned! Not quite sure just yet, but I’ll be back!”

Interviewed via video alongside Diane Parish who plays on-screen sister Denise, the pair also promised they’ll be reunited.

Diane revealed it was difficult seeing Tameka without being able to hug her as they had to adhere to social distancing measures on set.
