FORMER EastEnders lovebirds Whitney Dean and Lee Carter will clash when they're reunited in dramatic scenes this Christmas.
The pair haven't seen each other since Lee fled Walford following the breakdown of their marriage two years ago and time doesn't appear to have healed their issues.
In new snaps Whit and Lee can bee seen having an intense chat in the cafe before things heat up as they clash inside the Queen Vic in front of a horrified Linda Carter.
Lee stands with his arms folded as Whitney gives him daggers and gesticulates with her arms.
His comeback on the show follows his parents Mick and Linda's ongoing struggle to keep their relationship alive.
Actor Danny-Boy Hatchard left the soap when his character was seen heading to Dover following the collapse of his marriage.
He will return for a short stint this winter - just in time to help his parents who have had a hard time since Mick’s stint in prison.
Danny-Boy said: "The way things are going with the Carters at the minute, it makes total sense that Lee would return, even for a short stint.
"I will always be loyal to the Carter Clan and the show, and am very excited to be back on set with some immensely talented people whom I love dearly."
His on-screen dad Mick ( Danny Dyer) had been suffering panic attacks after being locked up, but he kept them secret from Linda.
The couple are also trying to deal with the fact their son Ollie might have autism and Linda's alcoholism.
When Danny-Boy left the soap he moaned that then producer Sean O’Connor hadn’t done enough with his exit.
He said: "I was disappointed how my character left with the mental health story.
"He could have left with something similar but with a little more attention to detail. I feel it got a little brushed off a bit."
In the lead up to Christmas 2016, Lee found himself in an impossible situation after taking out various loans and as his debt spiralled out of control, he staged a robbery at The Vic to get money, fast.
However, his plan back-fired leading to the further deterioration of Lee’s mental health and him contemplating taking his own life.
After confessing everything to his dad Mick, and with the support of his family, Lee decided it was time for a fresh start and he bid farewell to Walford.
Danny-Boy had played the troubled former Army man since 2014.
