EastEnders fans in tears as Ruby Allen silently suffers a devastating miscarriage while with stepdaughter Lily

EASTENDERS fans are in tears after Ruby Allen silently suffered a miscarriage in tonight’s episode.

The millionaire businesswoman - who is played by actress Louisa Lytton in the BBC soap - suffers from endometriosis and will have trouble conceiving and carrying a baby to term.

Tonight she was told she was pregnant - but would soon lose the pregnancy.

She broke the news to husband Martin: “I was late but I just ignored it. That’s the thing with it.

“I stopped trusting my body to do normal women’s stuff. It will happen today or tomorrow. It’s so early it will just be like a heavy period. It’s just not meant to be.”

Later as Ruby tried to distract herself by watching television, Lily’s school called and told her she had fallen ill and needed to be picked up.

And it soon became clear that Lily wasn’t just ill - but being bullied by Amy Mitchell.

It brought Ruby’s maternal side out and she protected her stepdaughter by confronting Amy.

“You’re right to look worried,” she told the thuggish school girl.

“Who do you think you are? You think you’re something special, do you? Well you’re not - you’re a bully.

“And bullies are not special, they’re weak, they’re insecure and they don’t like themselves very much. Is that really who you are?”

Having put Amy in her place, Ruby returned and just missed Amy discovering her worry note from the box about never being a mother.

“You don’t need to worry, you’ll make a great mum one day,” Lily told her.

But as Ruby went to get popcorn for them both, she felt a pain and her miscarriage began.

She cuddled up to her stepdaughter on the sofa as she went through her pain silently.

And viewers were heartbroken for her.

One wrote: "Poor Ruby, 2 miscarriages (So far) Lest this time she can't blame Stacey"

A second said: "Ruby is starting to miscarry"

Another added: "Probably not going to last but I am liking this new growing bond between Ruby and Lily"
