A boy is in a critical condition after being knifed just yards from a school in Ealing, west London.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene at Elthorne Park Road and the junction with Boston Road at 5.44pm.

The boy was found with a knife injury and rushed to hospital in an air ambulance.

There are unconfirmed reports that the victim is a Year 10 pupil, MyLondon reported.

Officers initially said that the boy was in a life-threatening condition but they have since provided an update to say that he is no longer fighting for his life.

Police have arrested another person on suspicion of attempted murder.

An earlier statement read: "The Air Ambulance Service also attended and transported the victim to hospital."

The spokesperson added: "The road is closed while emergency services work at the scene.

"One male has been arrested for attempted murder and is currently in police custody.

"A Section 60 has been implemented until 4am on Saturday, September 14 throughout the boroughs of Ealing and Hounslow.
