Veronica Green is set to make a sensational return to RuPaul's Drag Race UK.

She was making quite the name for herself on the second series of the show when filming was forced to shut down to the coronavirus pandemic.

And when all the other queens returned to the contest after weeks of isolation, Veronica was unable to go back to the workroom following a positive Covid test.

But after being invited back by famous drag star RuPaul, Veronica says she can't wait to show people everything they missed out on last series.

During an exclusive chat with the Mirror, she said: "I literally had to beg, borrow and steal to be on season three because I had no money left.

"The budget which I did have, and was very small, all went on season two and I didn’t earn anything for a whole year so I got a little bit of money from my mum and dad and brother and sister and I used that to do what I could.

"I couldn’t get a bank loan, I couldn’t get anything, I had a few people lend me some pieces and do stuff for free for me but thats the community coming together.

"I’ve got a lot of really loyal friends who wanted to help me out."

Veronica explained: "We filmed it while season two was on the air.

"There were a few outfits I hadn’t used on season two but the categories were so different, it was really difficult.

"I did repurpose a couple of things I didn’t wear to fit certain themes, but I did it very carefully because I didn’t want to just shoehorn an outfit in that didn’t make sense.

"There was a saying a few years ago that you don’t need money to do drag, and that’s absolutely true, but you do need money to do Drag Race.

"There’s a lot of expectation there and it’s a completely different level, it’s the Olympics of drag so you have to continue to push yourself.

Veronica said she was thrilled to be invited back to the contest, and that she can't wait to show viewers what else she can do.

She told us: "I think had I not been invited back that would have been a huge disappointment so the fact they’ve given me that opportunity to continue on the show I’m really grateful for it.

"I did have a terrible year! I was doing really well in the competition then the pandemic hit and that was it, everything was gone.

"The rug was pulled out from under me, there was no work back home, so it wasn’t just coming down from that high of being on this show that I’ve dreamed of being on for so many years, it was then coming back to a completely different world as well and having to navigate it.

"The pandemic completely changed me as a person, and then not being able to go back and live out the rest of that dream at the end was just another blow.

"I feel like recently I’ve been kicked when I’m down.

"But I went back for series three and I had a really great time. I can’t wait for everyone to see what’s about to happen. There’s 10 weeks of madness coming up but it solidifies for me that I got to complete my journey, that’s one of the most important things for me."

Veronica has also teamed up with Hear'Say star Myleene Klass for her new single Nothing To Lose, which is out now.

The dramatic ballad was written by Strictly Come Dancing ’s music producer Ian Masterson, alongside Hayley Sanderson, and features Myleene on piano and harp.

Veronica has collaborated on a single with Myleene

Veronica said the collaboration came about after Myleene joined her on stage at a drag show she did in London earlier this year.

She said: "After playing together at the live show, we got chatting and I suggested working together on something and she said yes, it was such an amazing appreciation for each other because I’ve been a fan of Myleene for such a long time.

"So to have her in the studio and playing the harp and the piano and providing some orchestration was just... I couldn’t have asked for anything better."
