Also the X38 cancelled its 10am Derby to Burton; the 10.40am Burton to Derby; the 11.20am Derby to Burton and the noon service from Burton to Derby.

A spokesman for the firm said: "Unfortunately, we are unable to operate the following services today. This is primarily due to a shortage of bus drivers which is impacting the bus industry up and down the country.

"We are doing all we can to operate as many services as possible. we apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding."

It was recently reported that the shortage of bus drivers is down to drivers flocking to HGV services due to a shortage of lorry drivers brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. However, it is not known if this is the reason for the shortage at trentbarton

Industry body the Confederation of Public Transport said the sector was short of 4,000 workers.
