A doctor was in the Old Bailey along with a Nigerian senator and his wife accused of trafficking a homeless man to the UK to donate organs to a politician's daughter .
Obinna Obeta, 50, conspired with Ike Ekweremadu, 60, and his wife's girlfriend Beatrice Ekweremadu, 55, to remove one of her 21-year-old homeless kidneys. accused of helping travel to London to extract.
This couple has a daughter with a kidney-related illness who has been on dialysis for some time.
Prosecutors allege that the conspiracy was to harvest male organs for her benefit.
All three are charged with arranging or facilitating the travel of others for the purposes of exploitation, i.e. organ harvesting, between August 1 and her May 5 of this year. .
Prosecutions will be made under the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
The two were arrested after a young man who had previously lived on the streets of Lagos turned up at Staines Police Station. A victim of human trafficking, he was "virtually treated as a slave."
