A dog has "amazed" vets after walking away relatively unscathed from a hit and run.
Seven-year-old greyhound collie cross Bailey was hit by a car at around 8am on Knowsley Road in Bootle this morning (Tuesday).
His owner, Danielle, who only wanted to give her first name, told the ECHO the driver fled the scene - and that her two devastated children saw the whole thing.

She said: "The kids are four and eight, they've been in bits.
"We got Bailey when my eldest was one so she's known him as long as she can remember, she was distraught.
"[The dog] went flying [when the car hit him]."
A video seen by the ECHO shows a car hit the dog before driving away.

Despite ending up some metres from where he was when the car initially struck him, the footage shows Bailey get up and walk away from the accident.
Danielle continued: "Somehow, he is absolutely fine. The vet was amazed and said it's a miracle he didn't break anything. He has some bruising on his spine but that's all.
"I walked Bailey to see [the kids] on their school lunch break and they seem to be a bit better know they now he is okay but it really was awful for them to see."
Merseyside Police confirmed it is looking into the crash.
A police spokeswoman said: "At around 2.10pm this afternoon, officers were called to a report of a collision this morning involving a dog and a black 4x4 vehicle on Knowsley Road in Bootle.
"The dog was taken to the vets.
