MLS outfit DC United are reportedly lining up a move for Mesut Ozil.
But the German won’t be heading to America for another year.
The Washington Post claims Ozil is in DC United’s sights after they lost Wayne Rooney to Derby County.
Ozil is back in the Arsenal side under new boss Mikel Arteta after struggling for form during Unai Emery’s tenure.
And the ace looks like he’s finally enjoying playing football again.
However, DC apparently reckon they can tempt Ozil to the MLS in January 2021.
They have one free spot open for a designated player and believe Ozil is the ideal man to fill it.
But the World Cup winner is on big money at the Emirates – £350,000-a-week to be exact.
And DC feel they stand more of a change landing Ozil when he enters the final six months of his Gunners contract next year.
But in the meantime, Ozil looks set to stay in North London and help Arteta revive one of English football’s fallen giants.
He recently said: “I’m very pleased with my contract and I will continue here this season and next.
“I can’t tell you what the future will bring. I’m excited about the future but I don’t know what’s going to happen.
“It is basically getting us back to the old Arsenal virtues.
“Fighting and having possession, being in control of the game, having the ball all the time.
“These are the things that Arteta is working on with us and you can see it – everyone is smiling, laughing, enjoying their time.
“It has made us successful. I think he is the right man at this club.”
