A FLY-TIPPER has been seen dumping rubbish near a Church on Thursday evening.

Police that they became aware of a video circulating on social media showing the fly-tipper dumping rubbish near St James Over Darwen Church on Winterton Road in Darwen.

Officers say they will investigate and intend to prosecute the person responsible.

A police spokesperson said: "This evening I have spoken with Sergeant Shaun Pearson, from the Darwen local policing team, and I have asked him to liaise with the environmental team at Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council first thing in the morning with a view to identifying, and prosecuting the person responsible.

"We will keep you updated when we can, watch this space."
