When Barrie Drewitt and his partner Tony were named as parents on their twins' birth certificates, they made history as the first same-sex couple to appear on the official documents.

According to The Sun, the pair had taken on Saffron and her brother Aspen after using an egg donor and a surrogate in California in 1999 and made headlines as the UK's first gay dads.

Barrie is the biological father of one child, while Tony is the biological father of the other.

After the twins were born, the embryo used to create Aspen, which had been split in two in the lab, was implanted into another surrogate, Donna. She then gave birth to Orlando, who is five years younger than Aspen, but is technically his identical twin.

Then, 11 years ago, Barrie and Tony decided they wanted more kids and asked Donna to be a surrogate again. This time, she gave birth to Dallas and Jasper.

The millionaire couple who made their fortune through a surrogacy business found an egg donor in the form of a Brazilian catwalk model.

However, after tying the knot as soon as they were legally allowed in 2014, Barrie and Tony split up in 2019 - and Barrie had quite the announcement.

He'd fallen for a younger man called Scott, who was the ex-boyfriend of his daughter Saffron.

The pair fell in love and now have a daughter of their own, Valentina. They opened up about their unconventional relationship in new TV show, My Extraordinary Family.

The dad-of-six said: "Lots of people think that it's weird that I would be dating my daughter's ex.

"I see the keyboard warriors. I see the types of things they write. But I love it! Bring it on!"

The couple now live with Tony and his new partner, Brent, as well as the kids.

Barrie says he was instantly attracted to "gorgeous" Scott when they first met.

"I just wanted to rip his clothes off and get him in bed straight away," he said.

For Scott, the feelings developed more slowly. He said: "I was still kind of that straight lad so I didn't kind of have that attraction straight away.

"My sexuality, I was straight but then I don't label myself. I like what I like."

Of course, their first meeting was a little unusual - as it was when Scarlett introduced her 'boyfriend' to her dad. But all wasn't as it seemed.

Barrie explained: "When Scott was first coming out, he didn't want to just announce to his parents and everything that he was gay.

"So between him and Saffron, they came up with this plan to say that Saffron was actually his girlfriend, but actually they weren't."

While Barrie and Scott struck up a secret relationship, Scarlett kept up the pretence that she was in a relationship with Scott so his parents didn't get suspicious.

Although it wasn't quite a real romance between Scarlett and Scott, Barrie admitted he would still have pursued Scott if they had been together.

He said: "There'd be no problem with that at all. If they're done then he's mine if I want him and that's it."

Saffron, now 22, said: "I never actually dated Scott, he was just my best friend."
