A police officer has suffered potentially life-changing injuries and three others have been injured after they were involved in a crash with another vehicle.

A man, in his 20s, who was driving the other car, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The police vehicle collided with the other vehicle shortly before 1.30pm on Tuesday, in Southwark, south east London.

It is understood an officer had to be cut from the wreckage and was rushed to hospital with three colleagues.

One officer is still in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries, while another remains there but with non life-threatening injuries. Two other officers have been discharged with minor injuries.



The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to hospital but did not sustain serious injuries and was arrested.

Another man who was also in the car is believed to have fled the scene and police are continuing to search for him.
