Courtney Cox is returning to the horror genre for new series Shining Vale.

The Friends star, 56, is well known to horror fans for her legendary role as news reporter Gale Weathers in the Scream film franchise.

Now she will play the part of former author and recovering alcoholic Patricia 'Pat' Phelps in the new series Shining Vale.

The series is set to focus on Pat over two decades after her original success and has now come to the suburban town setting in the show for a fresh start.

However, Pat is the only one to notice that there's some dark truths to be found in her family's new home, but will anyone believe her?

According to Entertainment Weekly, Pat moves to the town with her husband Terry ( Greg Kinnear ) and their two kids Gaynor (Gus Birney) and Jake (Dylan Gage) in an attempt to save their marriage after Pat cheated on Terry with a young handyman.
