Countdown's Anne Robinson was left gobsmacked when she was put in her place by a cheeky contestant.
The presenter, 76, was on the receiving end of a brutal dig from teenager Daaniyal Ali, 17, from Swinden, Yorkshire, who was competing on the hit Channel 4 show.
Poking fun at the youngster, Anne asked what he did in his spare time, and what he got up to for fun.
“Not much,” he replied. "I run my own YouTube and Daily Motion account. I like going on social media, clubbing.”
“Could you take me clubbing?” the 76-year-old asked.
"No," he quickly replied, which shocked Anne.
"Why not?!" she exclaimed, but she wasn’t anticipating his harsh explanation.
"You're too old, people wouldn't know you..." Daaniyal stated.
Anne, who celebrates her 77th birthday this weekend, then asked if he could help her get a date while on a night out in his local town.
"No,” he replied.
"Okay, well that's really cheered me up, an exasperated Anne told the audience. “Let's give a round of applause to our contestants.”
"That wasn't funny,” Anne jokingly fired at guest Kay Burley, who could be heard giggling during the conversation.
"I think the queen of mean has met her match,” Kay quipped, as Dictionary Corner’s Susie Dent tried to make the host feel better.
"We'll go out clubbing with you, Anne,” she offered.
And it seems Daaniyal’s banter was worth it in the end, as he ended up winning the show, beating fellow contestant Stephen.
"Thank you so much for taking part," Anne told Stephen, before telling him he had “met his match”.
The former Weakest Link host took over from Nick Hewer earlier this year, and when she made her debut in June, she became the first-ever female host of the Channel 4 show, which has been on the air since 1982.
Viewers have taken a while to warm up to the notoriously prickly TV personality, and some weren’t convinced with her hosting style when she made her first appearance as host.
"Anne Robinson wasn’t bad but I don’t think I can get used to her doing Countdown", one tweeted, as another added; "She needs to sit up straight in that chair".
But others leapt to the defence of the former journalist, with one fan posting: "Anne Robinson has been on air only 30 minutes - give her a chance! I think she is doing great, really like her as the new host.”Read More Read More
