Sefton Council is “urgently” hiring contact tracers as the city region continues its battle against Covid-19.

The role involves contacting people who have been infected with coronavirus and identifying places and activities where other people may have become exposed.

You can earn up to £25,481 (pro rata) as well as “weekend enhancements”.

There are both full and part time positions, working from home as well as “within the borough” on occasion.

In a tweet, the council said: “Urgent Covid-19 Job Alert!

“We’re recruiting contact tracers to join us in our response to the coronavirus pandemic. Apply right away so we can have you up and running asap”

The positions are temporary for up to six months, though this may be extended at a later date.

In the job description, it says: “You will have excellent communication skills, be non-judgemental, have competent IT skills and can demonstrate experience of dealing with sensitive or controversial issues in a diplomatic way.

“Some weekend working may be required, but it is not essential for all post-holders. A rota will be put in place.”

An enhanced DBS may be a future requirement for the role.
