A Cottingham road is blocked after a car collided with level crossing barriers.

Drivers have said Northgate in Cottingham is "gridlocked" as Network Rail work to reopen the level crossing barriers.

Hull Trains say trains between Beverley and London Kings Cross have been delayed by 45 minutes due to the collision.

A spokesman said: "Due to a road vehicle colliding with level crossing barriers, the 07.53 Beverley to London Kings Cross service, due to arrive at 11.08 into London is being delayed at Cottingham."

Traffic system Inrix said: "Northgate partially blocked, very slow traffic due to accident, a car and a level crossing involved near New Village Road.

"A car collided with the level crossing barrier. There is congestion around the local roads around Cottingham as traffic diverts."
