Qasim Akhtar is arriving back with a bang on tonight's Coronation Street after three years away.
The 30-year-old actor decided to leave in 2018 to pursue new opportunities and previously turned down an opportunity to return to the cobbles.
But now he is making an explosive comeback in the role of Zeedan Nazir, who has changed since his time away from Weatherfield, with his family in desperate need of help.
Qasim was already a well-recognised face when he joined Corrie back in 2014, having worked pretty solidly since the age of 13 on shows such as Doctors, Waterloo Road and most famously as Chesney Carib in Channel 4 comedy Shameless.
His popularity went up to new heights when he was cast in the ITV soap as the teenage son of Jimi Mistry's character Kal Nazir in the show's first ever Muslim family.
While Qasim was working on Corrie he went through some terrifying ordeals and at one stage was left fearing for his life.

Back in August 2016, the actor showed off his bruised and bloodied face while recovering from a freak exercise accident.
He was training on his patio and passed out, smashing his head on the hard ground when he fell and was left "counting his blessings" the injury was not more serious.
Alongside a gory pic, he wrote: "So ive just got out of AnE, training in the garden earlier had a sudden rush of blood to my head an hit the stone deck face first after passing out. Great start to the weekend."
He later added: "Don’t know what happened. I think I just got an unusual amount of blood rush to my head and fainted."
Concerned Weatherfield co-stars Kym Marsh, Jane Danson, and Sally Ann Matthews all sent well-wishes.
Thankfully, there wasn't too much damage and he was sent home from hospital with painkillers to rest up before heading back to filming.
After four years on the cobbles, Qasim decided it was time to leave to pursue new projects and told bosses he wanted to go at the end of his contract.
A Corrie spokesperson told Mirror Online: "Qasim is a talented actor who has been involved in some great storylines. We wish him every success in the future."
The writers left the door open for his return, with Zeedan leaving shortly after wife Rana's explosive affair storyline with pal Kate and her subsequent death in the factory collapse.
During his time away, Qasim was involved in a much serious accident which could have ended his life.
The actor revealed he almost died during a horror quad bike crash and posted photos from his hospital bed while explaining he was grateful to be alive.
"Took a major L (Lesson) yesterday. Had an accident on the quad bike" before going on to list the severe injuries he had suffered," he wrote.
"Split my lower abdominal, bruised lung, Fractured arm and a couple deep wounds.
"To be honest though as bad as they sound and as much pain as I’m in right now I’m counting my blessings to have only picked up these injuries and not some life threatening ones."
Explaining that his accident had served as a "huge wake up call", the Corrie star went on to explain he was hoping to find some positive sides to his situation.
The actor revealed he had been wearing a helmet had saved his life - and urged his followers to take precautions before hopping on a four wheeled bike themselves.
Earlier this year came the news that Qasim is finally returning to the cobbles after three years away.
The actor is having a great time back filming with the rest of the Nazir family, who he kept in touch with during his time away, and revealed he previously rejected the chance to come back.
"I had been asked back earlier but, although I was very grateful for the offer, I wasn't ready," he told Digital Spy. "I was doing things that I had previously had no time to do and it helped me find myself a bit.
"I always felt as though I would love to return at some point and when they presented the storyline for Zeedan's return to me I felt really invested in it straight away. The time felt right, I had kept in touch with my on-screen family and Shelley [King] kept asking me to come back, and I am thrilled to be here."
Qasim said it was like he had never been gone when he first walked one set and all the nerves immediately left him.
Having worked almost non-stop since the age of 13, the actor explained he needed a break to help him grow as an actor and refresh to be better at his job.
There will be some changes on-screen as Zeedan won't be the completely the same person who left The Street three years ago after living in London.
Explaining how Zeedan has changed, the star said: "He is fundamentally the same person but he just has a different outlook on life because of the experiences he has gone through. He is only three years older but he has come back more mature.
"I discussed it with Iain [MacLeod] our producer and they have definitely got the character as a more mature, more savvy and on the ball type of guy. He is more business minded, he has got over the things he was dealing with when he left.
"It had been very full on and he was at a low ebb. I guess he went away a boy and has come back more of a man."
Zeedan returns for his grandmother Yasmeen's birthday but is left shocked to discover that the family business is in serious financial trouble.
Sister Alya confesses to being the victim of a bank scam leaving him furious, but he soon offers her a lifeline, but she is left feeling suspicious.
Soon, Zeedan is targeted in the street and beaten up by two thugs leaving Alya worried his new found wealth is linked to the attack.
Could Zeedan be hiding something massive from his family?
Corrie Producer Iain MacLeod has teased the scenes, promising drama ahead for his loved ones who get pulled into the chaos he brings back with him.
He said: "Qasim is a fantastic actor and Zeedan is a character with tonnes of connections in the show, so I’m really excited to bring him back in what will be a really juicy story for the Nazirs.
"Zeedan has made some mistakes while he’s been off screen but he’s determined to be a better man.
"However, the path to redemption is strewn with pitfalls and Alya and Yasmeen end up getting sucked into the trouble that follows him to Weatherfield from his old life, threatening what promises to be Yasmeen’s fairytale ending, after her ordeal at the hands of Geoff."
