Coronation Street 's Nina Lucas and Asha Alahan could be set to embark on a tender teenage romance together in upcoming episodes.
The two are good friends but Asha is still dating Corey, who has caused her much anguish as he is only interested in sex and previously leaked a nude video of her.
Nina has been comforting Asha and helping her with her confidence, and when they have a study session together in the cafe, the spark between them is evident.
This could be the "heartbreaking romance storyline" soap boss Iain Macleod teased was in the works for Nina this year.
"There'll be a fantastic and unique love story for Nina, which might not entirely end up where you expect now," said Iain.
"The love story will turn into a massive social issue story that deals with tolerance of people who are part of minority communities and don't look like everybody else.
"It'll become a real talking point for next year – how does the world view people like Nina in reality?"
He added: "In the real world, if you don't look like everybody else, sometimes that can be incredibly challenging."
Meanwhile Ken Barlow sets about circulating a photo of son Peter to all local pubs and shops explaining that he’s ill and requesting they refuse to serve him, but he still returns home drunk.
Concerned to see Ken so low, Adam Barlow suggests to Ken and Tracy that they each take turns to keep an eye on Peter and if he goes out, they go with him.
As Peter heads out, he is annoyed to realise Adam is following him, and Peter later arrives home blind drunk as Adam looks on in despair.
Sweating and shaking, Peter sits down and pens a letter to Simon, before telling Carla Connor he would like to draw a line under their feud and that he forgives her for sleeping with Adam.
Carla’s relieved but when she sees Peter’s notebook, she is horrified to realise it’s a suicide letter to Simon.
Peter insists it’s not a suicide note, but a farewell letter as he’s come to accept that he is dying.
Carla takes Simon to No.1 and reads him the letter, before begging Peter to save himself before it really is too late, but Peter storms out.
Ken finds Peter drunk in a hotel bar and when he tries to take his drink away, Peter lashes out before sobbing, ashamed.
Peter says he wants to give up the booze but does not know how - but suddenly he begins having a seizure and Ken calls an ambulance.
In the hospital, the Barlows discuss the doctor’s advice to reduce Peter's alcohol intake gradually to avoid sudden death.
Peter continues to push Carla away and so she books a weekend away with an old flame, but Peter then begs her not to go - what will she do?
