Coronation Street will soon air the return of Summer Spellman, but she has a new face.

Actress Matilda Freeman has left her role on the ITV soap, with her character currently staying at her grandmother's house.

Now, actress Harriet Bibby will take over the role of the teen as she heads back to the street in the coming weeks.

Amid the dramatic return of Todd Grimshaw, she will now come face-to-face with her former guardian after he fled in 2017.

Harriet was cast after Matilda made the decision to quit the role to pursue other opportunities.

She first arrived on the street in 2017, and has been staying with her godfather Billy Mayhew, Todd's ex, ever since - with Billy adopting her.

When Summer heads back, she struggles to forgive Todd for leaving them all those years ago.

But will she be won over, and what drama might she bring with her return?

Speaking about her departure, Matilda said: "I’d like to say thank you to my second family, the cast, crew and viewers who have supported me during my time on the cobbles.

"After three and a half lovely years I felt it was time for a change and I’m excited to be starting that next chapter with a new role."

On Taking on the role, new actress Harriet teased what she may bring to Summer.
