Police swooped onto the Coronation Street cobbles to make an arrest during Monday night's double bill.
Vile Ray Crosby was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape after 18-year-old Faye Windass confessed to police that she was the one who attacked Adam Barlow.
Asked why she had attacked the solicitor, she explained that it was a case of mistaken identity.
The waitress had whacked Adam with a hospitality award in the bistro thinking that he was her sleazy boss who had previously tried to rape her in harrowing Corrie scenes.
Recalling the attack she said: "He had me backed up against the desk.
"He was undoing his trousers trying to force me to ...
"I told him that I didn't want to but he had his hands all over me.
"I managed to push him away and unlocked the door and that's when I ran out and saw Gary."
Furious at Ray's treatment of Faye, her brother Gary is currently in prison after he insisted on taking the blame for the attack on Adam.
Gary wanted to help his adopted sister and tried to get rid of the weapon until he was stopped by policeman neighbour Craig Tinker.
But Faye has been sick with guilt as well as worrying that she could be pregnant with Ray's baby.
Before the attempted rape Ray lured her to his hotel room and manipulated her into sleeping with him.
Police turned up to arrest Ray in the bistro, to the horror of his business partner Debbie Webster.

Watching him being bundled away in a police car Faye's dad Tim yelled over to him: "It's good job they got to you before I did."
And viewers were cheering.
"Bye bye Ray," applauded one.
"About time Ray got what he deserved," tweeted another.
"Yes Ray is arrested about time, now let him rot in jail," said another soap watcher.
"I’m so pleased Ray’s got what is coming to him," said another.
