Coronation Street's Izzy Armstrong will return to the soap next week after a 10-month absence.

Cherylee Houston, who plays Izzy, has been forced to shield at home due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Cherylee has Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS), a group of rare inherited conditions that affect connective tissue.

Her last appearance in Weatherfield was last June, but she hasn't been able to return to the Cobbles since.

However, fans will be delighted to see Izzy make an appearance next week as she speaks to Gary on Facetime.

Spoilers for upcoming episodes reveal that Izzy is desperate to return to work after struggling with isolation.

Gary approaches Sarah at the factory and at Kirk's suggestion asks her if she'd like to sew knickers from home.

While her return appears to be a one-off, Cherylee has updated her fans as to when she'll be back permanently on the soap.

In February, one fan tweeted her and asked: "When will we see you back on @itvcorrie."

Cherylee said: "A little while yet I’m afraid..."

Another fan said they were glad to hear Cherylee was coming back to Weatherfield.

Cherylee responded: "Oh yes!"
