Roy Cropper actor David Neilson has opened up about whether he will return to Coronation Street.
The actor has played the legendary character on the soap for more than twenty years, with one fan saying "Roy is Coronation Street".
Roy's exit scenes aired earlier this week, with fans in tears as he bid goodbye to niece Nina in heartfelt and emotional scenes.

Some viewers thought they had "worked out" he would come back, but David has suggested he has left Weatherfield for good.
He told Inside Soap : "I'm 72, obviously. When Corrie aired Norris' funeral, we had a scene with the hearse pulling up – and because of Malcolm Hebden, I thought: 'I'm really sorry that I won't get to work with him again.'
"But there are two exits in this for me: one for the character and one for David. Hopefully they won't coincide – maybe they will.
"I know Roy leaving will get a reaction. It's a big part of your life and a big part of that popular culture. He will be remembered for a long while."
Having appeared on our screens for some 26 years, David is still shocked when he gets recognised.
He continued: "It's amazing where you get recognised, though; when my son was at university, I remember going to pick up his stuff for the holidays one year and realising that I'd been in the lives of everybody there in their 30s. It's a very strange thing!"
Roy had to tell a number of lies to police, and with this weighing heavily on his conscience he decided to leave the country.
He told niece Nina: "One day I hope you’ll find it in you heart to forgive me. This is my only hope of peace. I must go away and atone."
"As you know I have gifted you my estate so you will always have a roof over your head and money coming in and a place to call your own in this kind and caring community. Now please."
An emotional Nina replied: "You know when I was beaten up it was you that brought me back.
"It was your voice I could hear as I drifted in and out of consciousness. My dad left me because he had no choice. Please don’t do this to me Roy."
"You’re the one person in the whole world that I trust and I love you."
