Conman photographer, 41, who lured women into fake porn shoots is found guilty of rape

A CONMAN photographer who lured women into fake porn shoots has been found guilty of rape.

Paul Brown, 41, raped six women after duping victims into becoming models and telling them they could earn thousands of pounds from adult shoots.

Exeter Crown Court heard Brown was ‘charming’ and the women submitted to his will rather than giving true consent to the sexual activity.
The sick pervert had a black book of his sexual conquests and rated the women, the court was told.

Prosecuting, David Sapiecha said: "This is a book of personal sexual interactions, a sexual conquests book. In the same vein, time and time again setting out his views of what was happening.

"This is not a business document of a professional record of models, this is a personal sexual document.

"It is a conquests book of personal sexual encounters."

'DECEIT & DECEPTION'

Brown, also known as Paul Smart, used ‘deceit and deception’ and not violence to commit the offences, the court heard.

Brown ran a photography business from an industrial unit in Okehampton, Devon, using various names - and used social media to contact the women whose ages ranged from 18 to 66.

The ‘sexual predator used a bogus company called Model South West to promote his false model business.

The jury heard Brown would make contact with the women and suggest they had the ‘potential to do modelling work’.

He would say that the modelling world wanted women of all sizes, shapes and ages and urged them ‘they ought to give it a go’.

The married father was ‘chatty and charming’ and would discuss the photo shoots which ranged from women wearing underwear or going nude to pleasuring themselves and having sex on camera.

But the court heard only Brown knew that no photos would be sent to the Model South West agency for them to look at and said the more they did the more money they could earn, making thousands of pounds for sex scenes.

But Mr Sapiecha said his purpose was to have sex with the women himself.

The court heard that a male model was supposed to turn up for sex with a model but did not turn up or was not booked, leaving him to have sex with the complainant.

'SLEAZY & SORDID'

Mr Sapiecha said: "He has used his work to satisfy his own sexual needs. In reality they were there for him to have sex with. That was his purpose.

"They did not know this, this was just his way of feeding his sleazy and sordid sexual appetite. It was a sham to enable him to use them as sex objects.

"His motive was his own sexual desire and gratification. They did not consent because he intentionally deceived them."

Yesterday, Brown was convicted of 15 rapes against six women and cleared of three more rape charges.

He was also convicted on five out of six charges of voyeurism.

Brown was remanded in custody and will be sentenced in February.

Judge David Evans said:"You have been convicted of many of these serious offences."

He said Brown will be facing a "significant time of custody".
