A campaign has been established after a 19-year-old boy drowned off the Fylde coast.

Adam Dodd, from Preston, died in Blackpool Victoria Hospital on July 23, after getting into difficulty while swimming the sea.

The personal trainer, who was described by relatives as a "fun-loving person" who had "everything to look forward to" drowned in the waters just off St Anne's Pier.

Now a fundraising campaign to pay for Adam's funeral has been established by Jordan Gillman.

On the GoFundMe page, Jordan wrote: "You may have seen the tragic story of the death of Adam Dodd on Friday July 23.

"Adam tragically lost his life at sea after getting into difficulty swimming at St Anne's Pier.

"We are raising money to help Adam's devastated family give him the best send off.

"Any donations will be massively appreciated and may help to make the family's most difficult day just that tiny bit easier.

"Adam was a fantastic young man with his whole life ahead of him, he was fun loving and caring and he was a dedicated Personal Trainer whose career was just beginning to take off.

"His life was cruelly cut short leaving his family devastated. Please help to give him the send off he deserves."

The page, which was launched on July 29, nearly a week after Adam's death, has already attracted more than £6,000 in donations.

Adam's family gave tribute to their son through a statement which was issued by Lancashire Constabulary.

They called the 19-year-old "positive" and "ambitious."

The full statement read: "As a family we are truly devastated at the loss of Adam. Adam was a fun loving person who enjoyed life to the maximum.

"He was positive determined and ambitious. He had just started his career as PT instructor and had everything to look forward to.

"At this time we would respectfully ask for our privacy so that we can grieve as a family."
